The first carrier hardly stopped before the officers bled out from the rear doors. The last man to disembark signaled the driver with a thumbs-up, and the vehicle was accelerated around the adjacent corner of the proceeding building.

Mathew swung open the back gates of the cruiser he was riding in just as the other took off.

Bravo Team had already split into smaller squads, each headed to one of the three ground-floor entrances to the building. Agent Rane led four men around the western corner of the building, while a similarly sized group followed Agent Iyuega to the east. Ashniin was already at the entrance with the remains of Bravo Team, ready to clear the lobby and assist the ascension of Mathew in Team Alpha.

The squads converged on the doors. They were cognizant not to drop shadows across the three-quarter-lite window panels, so either stood to the side or crouched below them. Inside was dark and appeared abandoned, but the crew scanned the interior for suspicious movement just in case.

The soft panting and chilling silences were suddenly broken by the high-pitched crackle of earpieces transmitting and receiving.

“Brave one, in position.” Agent Iyuega added the brave as if determined to break lame voice procedure.

“Bravo two in position,” Agent Rane indicated once his crew was situated.

“Zero, all squads move in,” Agent Branson ordered.

     Doors were kicked in.

The smell of rotting wood and dampness struck out at the nostrils.
