“Okay, well maybe they have a network of unchipped super agents operating in the No-Cit districts, and they report directly to Regional, either way it’s irrelevant. All we can do is take advantage of the intelligence and use these snot-nose hotheads to do our jobs.”
The No-Cit districts were home to the most notorious unchipped criminals in the region, and the Ofilius Blight was the small agency tasked with the suppression of their crimes in civil chip society. Unlike the Black Coats, who relied on biometric data and worked within the jurisdiction of civil chip society, the OBA relied on superior detective skills and hard evidence to make arrests. They themselves rarely ventured into the No-Cit districts, so the idea of an agency that employed unchipped agents was unimaginable.
Agent Branson had only expressed his opposition to the cross-agency cooperation with the Black Coats at the onset of the briefing. He had also overseen the majority of their three-day pre-deployment training. His cold omissions now were sufficient enough to soothe Ashniin’s apprehensions about the preparedness of the Black Coats, at least while he remained the Team Lead on the operation.
“Unchipped super agents?” she sarcastically repeated.
